• Machinery and generators in medium industries must control noise to meet limits: 65 dB(A) at the factory boundary, 55 dB(A) during the day, and 45 dB(A) at night in residential or buffer zones.
   
• Gaseous emissions from these industries can be mitigated to comply with the Environmental Quality (Clean Air) Regulation 1978. Proper design and control measures ensure emissions are kept within acceptable levels.
   
• Industrial effluents can be treated on-site prior to discharge, adhering to the standards outlined in the Environmental Quality (Sewage and Industrial Effluent) Regulation 1979, depending on the location.
   
• Medium industries may use toxic and hazardous raw materials. Scheduled wastes produced during operations must be treated on-site or disposed of in compliance with the Environmental Quality (Scheduled Wastes) Regulation (Amendment) 2007.
   
• Fumes and odours from these industries may pose health risks to workers and nearby residents. However, design solutions are available to prevent such impacts, ensuring compliance with the Environmental Quality (Clean Air) Regulation 1978.
   
• Stack heights must align with the plant's production capacity and be determined through air quality modelling and simulation, subject to approval by the Department of Environment (DOE).
